Kids and homework and sports and ....cher?

So I'm wondering, does anyone else spend HOURS on homework these days?  My son has a test almost every other day and in between basketball games, practice, Kid's CBS, art, dance, blah blah blah...we are bam bam bam on the books.  My son BEGS me for free time every day.  I WANT him to have free time, but where are we going to squeeze it in?  Well, this spring we are taking a break from sports.   Maybe tennis after school, but nothing at night or on the weekends so that he can have free time AND be able to do his 3 hours of homework!  I used to be a teacher and I do understand the importance of homework but this 3rd grade year is kicking my butt.  My daughter Kate will be in 3rd grade next year and we get to do this WHOLE deal all over again! Yippeeeeeeee...  :(  But  I love his teacher.  So fun and so sweet, so it's hard for me to be mad at her for all this homework.  Plus, I knew it was coming, even back when he was in pre-school.  So, it's not like it was unexpected.  I just don't like it. :)
When I have to go out of town I feel like a substitute teacher leaving lesson plans for the sitter to make sure she covers all the subjects for which my kids have homework and tests!
They just THINK it's going to be fun when the parents leave.  Not so much.   Not. so. much. :)
Speaking of out of town, my friends are going to Vegas and want to know if, when we come out there, would we be interested in seeing CHER?  let me think....that would be a NO.  More like an H- E -double hocky sticks No. Ha ha ha... (that's my G rated version of a bad word. :)  "do you believe in life after love????"  after love after love after love.... Yikes...I think I'd rather see myself squeeze in a two-piece than see that eye-gouger.  Ok, that is not nice.  It's probably a decent show, but I'm not a big Cher fan.  So I will stay positive.   "no, thank you, I'll pass on Cher."
Well, the laundry is PILING up as I gab on and on about nothing, really.  Oh, tonight my son made 4 baskets at his game! Yeah....there's hope!!! :)
