Anyh00...now I want to go buy her 1st album to check out the other songs she has written. Pretty wild stuff to write like that at that young age. When I was 16 or 17 I was writing pretty stupid songs, however, I did win the talent shows at my school b/c no one else was writing anything! So crap songwriting is better than no songwriting, eh? :) (kidding). Hey! My mom liked them!! Woo hoo!
Actually in 7th grade I was in a talent show and played a song I wrote called "butterfly's dream". yep... great title, huh? I was beat by a dumb girl who threw her baton around to "we got the beat" by the go-gos. Like THAT's talent to throw a baton. Actually (cough cough) it's pretty hard to twirl a baton so I must give the chick props. :) My song was stupid, anyway.
Some of my old college buddies might remember some of the funny tunes I wrote back then. I would sneak into the chapel and play the piano on the stage late at night. I came up with some pretty goofy stuff. Maybe a few serious tunes, but most were hilarious tunes making fun of some of the guys on campus. (especially the ones that didn't like me although I had a crush on them...pretty common for me, actually!)
Anyway...I deviate from my original post. I really like Taylor Swift now and I can see from her songs how she has drawn such a hugonic fan base. Her songs are relatable and people "get" them. I think that's the secret to any good song, for me anyway. I have to "get" it! :)

If she doesn't sound that good live, but does on records then doesn't that say more for her engineer's ability than it does for her ability as a singer? My daughter likes Taylor Swift's CD "Fearless" too, but I've not really listened to it much. Post your impression of her other CD's too because I would like to read your professional opinion.
